Biography:

Raph Graybill is a nationally-recognized advocate who helps clients win complex disputes.  Raph represents plaintiffs in personal injury and medical malpractice claims, constitutional claims, litigation against the government, and other large damages claims.

He heads the firm’s Helena office and handles cases statewide.

 

Raph joined Graybill Law Firm after serving as Chief Legal Counsel to the Governor of Montana and as the Democratic Nominee for Montana Attorney General.

 

Raph’s notable courtroom wins for clients include:

• Winning first-in-the-nation trial defending mail ballot voting against suit by the President of the United States. Successfully defended trial judgment before the Ninth Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court.

• Defeating the IRS and U.S. Department of the Treasury in suit challenging unlawful federal tax regulation.

• Removing the Acting Director of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management for violating the U.S. Constitution.

• Protecting Montana’s leading conservation program in original proceeding before the Montana Supreme Court, which led to the protection of up to 200,000 acres of open spaces in Montana.

• Successfully defending emergency public health rules against challenge by tobacco industry in nationally-significant win for youth nicotine prevention.

Raph has litigated appeals before the Montana Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He frequently advises other attorneys on complex issues and appeals, and partners with attorneys whose clients require local counsel in Montana.

 

Previously, Raph trained as an attorney with the nation’s leading trial litigation boutique and as a law clerk on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He lives in Helena with his wife and two daughters.
